Netscape Communicator

Check For New Email Every 5 Minutes

Configuring Netscape Communicator to check for email every 5 minutes will keep your connection to your ISP from timing out and disconnecting.

Note:For this to function, the email program must remain open; however, you can minimize it to remove it from view.

Open Netscape Messenger (the email program).

Click on Edit to open the Edit menu.

Click on Preferences... to open the Preferences dialog box.

If there is a "+" next to Mail & Newsgroups, click on the "+" to expand the menu.

Click on Mail Servers.

Click on the mail server listed in the Incoming Mail Server field.

Click on Edit to open the Mail Server Properties dialog box.

Make sure the General tab is selected. It should appear raised.

Be sure the Check for mail every box is checked.

Delete the number in the minutes field and key in 5.

Click on OK to close the Mail Server Properties dialog box.

Click on OK to close the Preference dialog box..



NOTE: You may receive a prompt telling you the changes will take effect the next time you start Netscape.
