| I
can't log on to NSU because my PIN (Personal Identification
Number) or password is denied!
In
order to resolve your inability to log into NSU's web services,
we need to verify that you are using the correct PIN. You
will need to have your Social Security Number when you contact
us. Frequently, users of the web services attempt to enter
their NT-NSU password, instead of their PIN. Your PIN was
initially set to be your birthdate, in 6 digit (mmddyy)
format. If you do not remember it, please perform one of the
following:
- Go to a kiosk at any campus. Locations
are here:
.
- Online
at NSU Web Services (https://osage.nsuok.edu:8443/nsuEntry.shtml)
or click
.
- Email
the Help Desk at help@nsuok.edu or click here
.
- Come
to the third floor of the NET Building, with a picture id,
and we will change it for you.
Due
to security issues C & T does not give out
PIN's or Passwords over the phone and encourage you to change
your password often.

 How
do I lock my PC to prevent someone from accessing it while
I step away for a few minutes?
If
you are using Windows NT, the campus standard operating system,
you don't have to exit the program you are working on to lock
your computer. When you unlock, you go back to the exact spot
where you were working previously. This is accomplished by
using the Lock Workstation function.
To use the Lock Workstation function, simply press and hold
the Ctrl and Alt keys, then press the Del key.
You will see a window called Windows NT Security. Click
to view a sample window. In this window there are six buttons,
but the default button, Lock Workstation, (highlighted)
is active. Then simply press Enter. Your workstation
will be locked, and not allow anyone to look at your e-mail
or other files.
To unlock your workstation, press Ctrl and Alt keys,
then press the Del key again, enter your NT (normal
login) password, and press Enter. You will be right back where
you started in just a few seconds.
If someone turns off your computer and turns it back on, it
will no longer be locked. However, you will no longer be logged
on, so the system will not be able to access your files. The
standard NSU software installation saves your work files on
the network L: drive, which is inaccessible without your password.

Yes,
you can check your NSU e-mail account from your home PC.
You
can configure your home PC using Netscape to check your NSU
e-mail account; however, you will have to make changes to
Netscape preferences each time you want to receive e-mail
from a different e-mail account. The solution is to use multiple
Profiles in Netscape. One profile would point to your NSU
e-mail account and the other to your Internet Service Provider
(ISP) account.
